I'll Take Two Helpings Please...
I've been back home for just over two weeks. I've had exactly two days off from work in that entire time...I work 12 hour days...and if I see any of my friends its completely by accident. I love it. The accident part that is. You see...I'm part of a community again.
I love going over to hang out with Coya and seeing Kelly Brazil or Rocki or Susan or little baby Luca chillin' in front of their house on the next block. Or going to the YWCA to see Quiana and Tai, the hottie queer girl that works the front desk, breaking into a big old smile and welcoming me home (and then finding out she has my birthday memorized...love it). Or going to the YWCA Midtown and running into Carla Nathan...who I love and adore and have known since we were wee children...or going to spinning class at 6:15am this morning and running into Sue...Melanee's godmother. It's the depth that I missed when I was in Albuquerque. It was the level of friendship that exists when you can get past the top layer and dig underneath for the crazy, goofy, psycho stuff...and it's all ok. It's good to be home.
This is going to be a short one today. I'm starving...and I can feel myself slowly slipping into a food rage...but I'll take two helpings of community to tide me over until the spaghetti sauce is done warming up!
